Arcane, Season 2 will not be released this year

Fans of Arcane, the animated series of League of Legends, are eagerly awaiting the second season after the huge success of the first, but they must know that they will have to wait at least until January 2024.

In a new interview with Guan Ze Yuan of League of Legends Pro League, Nicolo Laurent, CEO of Riot Games, revealed that the second season of Arcane will not air in 2023 and that “it’s not ready yet.”

“I just watched the third episode of Season 2 before my flight to China, so we are making progress,” Laurent said. “It’s not ready yet, and that’s for two reasons. The first is that you want quality, but you don’t want to rush it, so it takes time. That’s the good reason.”

“The negative reason is that, honestly, we didn’t know if Season 1 was going to be a success…. If we had known, we could have started Season 2 much earlier, but we didn’t know and so we waited a while and now we are paying the price. Unfortunately, it’s not coming out this year.”

We don’t know much about Season 2 of Arcane yet, except that some of the lead actors from the first season will return. The series is being produced by Riot Games and Fortiche Productions, an animation house that the League of Legends studio has invested in and will work with on other projects.
