Jürgen Locadia continues his career with China’s Cangzhou Mighty Lions, last season’s number 12 in the Super League. The 29-year-old striker had been under contract with Persepolis since August, but had already fled Iran at the end of last year.

The Emmen-born Locadia exchanged PSV for Brighton & Hove Albion in 2018 for around 16 million euros, but had little success in the Premier League. He was then rented out to Hoffenheim and Cincinnati and acquired by VfL Bochum early last year.

He left that club after six months for Persepolis, one of Iran’s most popular clubs.

Late last year, Locadia decided to leave Iran because of the troubled situation. According to TV station Iran International, the soccer player was worried about his safety and that of his closest surroundings after the Dutch government called on compatriots to leave Iran as soon as possible.
