Bayern past Freiburg thanks to De Ligt’s streak, Malen scores again for Dortmund

NOS Football–
Matthijs de Ligt helped Bayern Munich to three points in the Bundesliga match against Freiburg. Thanks to a seething shot from distance by the Oranje international, they won 1-0, keeping the southern Germans in the lead.
Pursuer Borussia Dortmund also won, beating Union Berlin 2-1 at home. A Dutchman scored there as well: Donyell Malen made the 1-0.
Tuchel thanks De Ligt
Visiting Freiburg, Bayern was the dominant side without creating too many chances. Nevertheless, it did push Freiburg very far back. A goal for Thomas Tuchel’s new coach hung in the air for a long time.
The goal finally fell only half an hour before time, when De Ligt got some space, set up the ball and lashed out devastatingly. Goalkeeper Mark Flekken, also an Orange international, was completely defenseless.
With Noussair Mazraoui and Ryan Gravenberch, two more Dutchmen filled in at Bayern. Gravenberch almost made it 2-0 with a nice turn around his axis, but Jamal Musiala hit the post.
Freiburg attacked in the closing stages, but the home team did not create any more chances.
Malen important again
Borussia Dortmund lost the lead to Bayern last week and also had to look down because of that defeat, where Union Berlin was eager to take over the second spot.
Malen, in excellent form lately, was effective once again after just under half an hour of play. The striker cleverly got in front of his man in the penalty area and tapped the ball into the roof of the goal.
Union then came back through a goal by Kevin Behrens, but in the closing stages Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko worked in the winning goal. As a result, the gap with Bayern remains two points and Union does not have to dream of second place for the time being.
