Manchester United has recorded its first win in the Premier League since Feb. 19. Coach Erik ten Hag’s team won narrowly but deservedly 1-0 at home to Brentford through a goal by Marcus Rashford.

Brentford was also the opponent in Ten Hag’s second league game and that game then ended in a 4-0 defeat for United. This time Ten Hag’s men had little to fear from the Premier League number nine.

Weghorst on the bench

Wout Weghorst, much criticized in the English media lately, was not in the starting lineup for the first time since his arrival in Manchester – after nineteen games. Tyrell Malacia was also on the bench, but fell in before halftime due to an injury to Luke Shaw.

The stronger United was already on a 1-0 lead at that point. A cross from Antony was headed by Marcel Sabitzer to Rashford, who popped in from close range. After halftime Brentford came out better, but no really big chances remained.

Simple win for Newcastle

Newcastle United recorded a 5-1 win at West Ham United. England’s number three played convincingly, but was given the goals very easily by West Ham.
