Brazil becomes rival Netherlands in battle to host 2027 World Cup

NOS Soccer–
Brazilian President Lula has announced his country’s candidacy to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup. “A big step toward the development of women’s sports in Brazil,” he called it on Twitter.
Brazil thus becomes a rival to the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Last week they revealed that they are jointly making a bid to host the event.
Countries still have until April 21 to apply to FIFA as candidates. The world soccer federation asks them to submit the bid by Dec. 8. Next May, FIFA’s congress will decide the venue for the World Cup.
Last week, FIFA opened the application. In addition to the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany and Brazil, the United States and South Africa are said to be interested in hosting the World Cup.
