Matthijs de Ligt (Bayern Munich) and goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen (Anderlecht) rejoin the Dutch national team’s selection this afternoon. The duo, who had to leave the training camp last Thursday due to a viral infection, have recovered sufficiently for the European Championship qualification encounter with Gibraltar.

Lutsharel Geertruida, who made his debut against France yesterday and was injured in the closing stages, is not available for the game with Gibraltar. The Feyenoord player will therefore return to his club. Stefan de Vrij has also left the training camp of the Dutch national team. In consultation with national coach Ronald Koeman it has been decided that the Inter defender will return to Italy because of an imminent family expansion.

Sven Botman (Newcastle United), Cody Gakpo (Liverpool) and Joey Veerman (PSV) did not recover from the virus infection in time.

Due to these changes, the selection for the encounter with Gibraltar remains at 23 players.

Monday Gibraltar

The Dutch national team lost its first European Championship qualifier on Friday. Vice-world champion France was too strong 4-0 in Saint-Denis. Monday the second European Championship qualifier with Gibraltar awaits.
