Gears of War, John Spaihts will be the screenwriter for the film: he worked on Dune

A few months ago Netflix announced that it would make and distribute a film of Gears of War, The Coalition’s series for PC and Xbox. At the time of the announcement we had very few details about the production, but now we know who will be in charge of the script.

Netflix revealed in recent hours that screenwriter for the film project will be John Spaihts, most recently known for his work on Dune and Doctor Strange. “Gears of War is one of the greatest action games of all time, with vivid characters, a beautifully designed world and a combat system that shows the lethality of war and the importance of standing by your teammates. It wants to be cinema and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to help make it happen,” Spaihts said in a statement.

In the same press release, The Coalition called Spaihts “a master storyteller.” The Gears of War developer will also be associated with this project as a producer.

We do not yet have a release window for this film, and considering that we only now know who will write it, it will probably be years before we see it. In any case, Netflix is expected to provide new information over the next few months, and we will keep you updated on all the news.
