Ünüvar cuts knot and prefers Turkey to the Netherlands

NOS Football–
Naci Ünüvar has made a final decision about his international career. The 19-year-old striker prefers Turkey to the Netherlands.
Ünüvar, rented by Ajax to Trabzonspor, was not long ago considered one of the greatest Dutch talents.
No breakthrough at Ajax yet
However, the Zaandam-born Ünüvar has so far, barring three cup appearances in the main squad, not progressed beyond Jong Ajax.
He also went through several line-ups of Dutch youth teams, culminating in winning the 2019 European Championship with Oranje under 17. Among others, Brian Brobbey and Kenneth Taylor were teammates at the time.
So now Ünüvar is going for an international career in Turkey, where his roots are. “With pride, I have decided to represent the Turkish shirt. I hope we will have many successes together.”
At Ajax, he still has a contract until the summer of 2026. Employed by Trabzonspor, Ünüvar came to eleven official matches this season, mostly substitute appearances.
