A cannonball, calls The Daily Mail Erling Haaland. ‘When he fires hardly any opponents remain standing’.

‘Haaland shows his superpower,’ writes The Guardian. A ‘goaltending machine’ according to The Telegraph. ‘He rewrites all the records.’

‘Erling Hauland’ mentions The Sun him, a pun on “haul” meaning “booty” or “yield.

On Tuesday night, Haaland rocketed Manchester City to the quarter-finals of the Champions League with five goals, most personally. The Englishmen had no problem with RB Leipzig at home, humiliating the Germans 7-0.

Foreign news media are also praising Manchester City’s star player. ‘Haaland comes from another planet,’ headlines the French newspaper L’Équipe. ‘The Norwegian bomber,’ mentions La Gazzetta dello Sport him.

“He is a gift to all of us,” Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola responded about the performance of the only 22-year-old striker.

With his five goals in one Champions League game, he is the third player ever to achieve this. Luiz Adriano, did this in 2014 for Shakhtar Donetsk, and Lionel Messi in 2012 for FC Barcelona – with Guardiola as coach.

Haaland didn’t actually want to be substituted after his five goals, but made a sixth. Guardiola explains why he brought the Norwegian to the side anyway.

This is how Guardiola wants to keep phenom Haaland hungry

“If he reached this milestone with this record at the age of 22, it would make his life boring…. Now he has a goal for the future. I also changed him because I want as many players to play as possible.”

All of Leipzig impressed

Leipzig manager Marco Rose said he knew his team could mount a tough challenge against Haaland. “He had a great night. He was so hungry,” Rose said. “He scored goals with the foot and the head. It looked very simple. Congratulations to Erling.”

This tweet from RB leipzig is from Feb. 23, when both teams played the first Champions League match in Leipzig (1-1-), but is again widely shared on social media.
