Still 300 PSV supporters welcome at cup match against Spakenburg

The Bunschoten municipality decided Tuesday that 300 away supporters are welcome at the KNVB-Beker semi-final between Spakenburg and PSV. To ensure public order and safety, these supporters must come by buses.

The match will be played on April 4 at Sportpark De Westmaat (8 p.m.).

In addition to the PSV fans, some 6,000 Spakenburg supporters will also be in attendance. The chairman of Spakenburg showed earlier in Langs de Lijn En Omstreken already know that it would be difficult to accommodate many fans of PSV.

“We are an amateur stadium and that is not built on separate streams of supporters. You have to be able to let them pass each other in a certain way. That’s still not easy in the way we have our complex situated.”

The amateur club is the big surprise of this cup season. In the quarterfinals Spakenburg eliminated premier league club FC Utrecht with a sensational 4-1 victory. Earlier in the tournament, coach Chris de Graaf’s team already won 3-2 at FC Groningen.
