Morocco has applied to co-host the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal. This was reported by Moroccan Sports Minister Chakib Benmousa on the authority of King Mohammed VI in a speech at a meeting of the African Football Federation (CAF) in Kigali.
Next year it will become clear which countries will be allowed to host the World Cup. It was announced earlier that the quartet of Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay and Chile are also candidates.
Morocco made it to the semifinals at the last World Cup in Qatar, eventually losing against France. It did so with the country including former Eredivisie players Hakim Ziyech, Sofyan Amrabat and Noussair Mazraoui.
