De Ligt receives 700 kilos of chocolate from teammate Sommer

NOS Football–
‘A truck full of Swiss chocolate’: that’s what Bayern Munich goalkeeper Yann Sommer promised to send to Matthijs de Ligt’s house, after his phenomenal save on the line against Paris Saint Germain.
Sommer proved no bluff, kept his word and had 700 kilos of chocolate delivered to his teammate on Wednesday morning. De Ligt found a destination for the load of chocolate: the food bank in Munich.
De Ligt prevented a certain goal by Vitinha last week in the Champions League eighth finals with a slide just in front of the goal line, who appeared to put the French up 1-0 after a failed walk with the ball by Sommer in his own penalty area.
‘The wall’
That action, celebrated with clenched fists by De Ligt himself, earned him great praise. The Dutch national team international has been in excellent form in Munich lately anyway.
De Ligt, transferred from Italy’s Juventus in the summer, has found his feet in Munich after a somewhat hesitant start.
De Ligt is sure of his starting place in the heart of defense and regularly excels there. His fellow defender Dayot Upamecano recently called him “a wall.
Bayern was 3-0 too strong over two games for PSG. Who the team will draw in the quarterfinals is not yet known. Two Champions League matches are scheduled tonight with Manchester City – Red Bull Leipzig and Internazionle – FC Porto.
