The Last of Us, the second season of the TV series will not cover the entire second game

Tonight aired the ninth and final episode of the TV series of The Last of Us produced by HBO, and in a new interview with GQ, co-creators Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin talked about what we can expect from the second season.
When asked if The Last of Us 2 will cover the entire adventure of the second game in the series, The Last of Us Part 2, Mazin said, “No. No, absolutely.” with Druckmann instead adding, “It would be more than one season,” implying that there may be a third season in the future. When asked how many seasons will tell the storyline of The Last of Us Part 2, the pair would not confirm any details. “You noted well that we are not going to say how many. But more than one is correct,” Mazin added.
Earlier in the interview the two gave some hints about how they will adapt the more complex narrative structure of The Last of Us Part 2, which is based on changes in perspective. Mazin said that, as in the first season, there will be some elements that are identical to the game and others where they will make changes.
“I think we know what we’re doing here,” he explained. “I’m not saying it in a dismissive way, I’m saying it in a hopeful way. There will be things that will be different and things that will be the same. There are things that will be added and enriched. There are things that will be turned upside down. Our goal remains exactly the same as the first season, which is to offer a show that makes fans happy,” he concluded.
