Bayern Munich regained the lead from Borussia Dortmund. In Stuttgart the team from Bavaria won 2-1, Matthijs de Ligt made the 1-0 for the leader.

VfB Stuttgart did not start badly at all. For example, the Congolese Silas was dangerous after 35 minutes, his shot was blocked. The resulting corner almost went in after goalkeeper Yann Sommer let go of the ball. De Ligt helped his goalkeeper and turned the ball just before the line.

Exit De Ligt

Two minutes later, Bayern did score at the other end of the pitch. De Ligt took a shot from about twenty meters. Certainly not a devastating outburst, but the shot was too powerful for Bredlow anyway.

Silas was close to an equalizer before halftime, but his shot was blocked.

After an hour of play, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting decided the match. He scored his tenth goal of the league on a pass from Thomas Müller. It was reason for coach Julian Nagelsmann to make major changes. The recently returned Sadio Mané got some playing time, having already made his comeback last week. Now he was allowed half an hour.

Ryan Gravenberch came on later in the second half, he was allowed ten minutes. Daley Blind remained on the bench for the entire match.

Closing goal

After all the substitutions, things got a little tense. Shortly before time, Juan José Perea scored the tying goal. And it could have been even worse for Bayern, Tanguy Coulibaly’s header went just past the goal.

Earlier in the day, number three ranked Union Berlin had drawn against FC Köln. Bayern and Borussia therefore moved slightly further away from the club from Berlin, the gap is now five points.
