Feyenoord-Ajax and Spakenburg amateurs against PSV

The Spakenburg amateurs will play PSV at home in the semifinals of the KNVB Cup. The other match is between Feyenoord and Ajax. The semifinals will be played midweek, on Tuesday, April 4, Wednesday, April 5 or Thursday, April 6.

These matches also raise questions. At De Klassieker between Feyenoord and Ajax, no supporters from the visiting club are welcome in the premier league, but for cup matches this arrangement does not apply. The question is whether fans from Amsterdam will be admitted.

Another issue is whether Spakenburg has the facilities to host PSV in the fishing village or would prefer to move to larger accommodation. After an initial inspection by broadcasting company ESPN, the amateurs’ sports park seems to meet the requirements.

For the first time since 2005, the classic top three are in the semifinals. And in the company of top clubs Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV, Spakenburg is the third amateur club ever to reach the last four in the cup tournament, after IJsselmeervogels (in 1975) and VVSB (2016).
