Russia accuses U.S. of preparing chemical weapons provocation in Ukraine

Russia on Tuesday accused the United States and its allies of preparing for a provocation with toxic chemical agents in Ukraine. and assured that a consignment of these substances arrived last 10th in Kramatorsk, the main Ukrainian stronghold in the Donetsk region, annexed by Moscow last September 30.
The commander of the radiological, chemical and biological defense troops of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Igor Kirilov, stated that. preparations for this provocation “are proceeding at full speed.”in a press appearance broadcast on the Rossiya 24 channel of Russian state television.
According to the military officer, on the 22nd last day former U.S. Ambassador to Russia John Sullivan stated at a conference that “Russian troops plan to to use chemical weapons in the zone of the special military operation” as Moscow calls its military campaign in Ukraine.

“We assess this information as the purpose of the United States and its accomplices to carry out a provocation with toxic chemical agents in Ukraine,” Kirilov said. He added that a batch of chemicals arrived by train on the 10th last day in Kramatorsk in 16 metal boxes, half of which were marked with the letters BZ and two red lines.
Kirilov explained that this designation indicates that this chemical agent, the use of which is prohibited, causes “acute psychosis, loss of orientation, hallucinations and memory impairment.” He noted that, in addition, it is planned to supply Ukraine with a large consignment of individual defense means, which include, among others, 600,000 vials of antidote against organophosphorus compounds..
“The fact of simultaneous supply of toxic chemicals and means of protection against them evidence an attempt to carry out a great provocation in the use of the psychotropic chemical weapon BZ,” the Russian general stressed.
