PSV has broken open the contract of Johan Bakayoko and extended it through the summer of 2026. The 19-year-old striker rejected another offer from Paris Saint-Germain in the winter break.

Bakayoko has played at PSV since 2019 and made his official debut in the A-team in February 2022. The Belgian followed trainer Ruud van Nisterlooij from Jong PSV to the first of the club from Eindhoven this season.

The youth international was frequently in action lately due to the injuries of Anwar El Ghazi and Thorgan Hazard and did not do so without merit with two goals and two assists in his last four games at PSV.

No transfer

Paris Saint-Germain wanted to acquire Bakayoko in January for about 15 million euros, but the Belgian thanked for the honor. “I want to become champion here,” Bakayoko commented on his choice at the time.

General manager Marcel Brands was pleased with Bakayoko’s contract extension. “We would like to further develop this young player, with a lot of international potential, for the club,” he said on PSV’s website.

The old contract of Bakayoko, who came to seventeen goals and 12 assists with Jong PSV in the first division last season, ran until June 2025.

He has played twenty official duels for PSV so far this season and was five goalscoring.
