Everything Everywhere At Once Sweeps Actors Guild Awards

The film Everything Everywhere All At Once (All at once everywhere, in Spanish) has swept the 29th edition of the Screen Actors Guild Awards. (SAG Awards), winning -among other awards- the most relevant one, which recognizes the best cast of the film season.

The film directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert pocketed four of the five awards for which it was a finalist. for this gala held in Los Angeles (USA) and is already the favorite production for the Oscar, after having also been crowned at the Critics Choice and the Producers Guild awards.

The title All at once everywhere was also recorded alongside the best leading actress categories thanks to. Michelle Yeoh’s winCurtis’ own victory as best supporting female performer; and the success of Ke Huy Quan, best supporting actor.

The only film award of the night that did not fall on the side of the work of the filmmakers popularly known as “The Daniels” was for Best Actor in a Leading Role.which went to American Brendan Fraser for his contribution in the psychological drama The Whale.

“I think my heart is about to explode. Thank you for recognizing my career, with its ups and downs, but I can say that I have never given up,” she said through tears after lifting the Screen Actors Guild of America. in which voting is open to all 122,600 interpreters who make up this institution.

Awards for the small screen

During this event, the most outstanding works of the small screen are also awarded, which. this year went to the second seasons of The White Lotus (HBO Max) and Abbott Elementary (ABC), winners for Best Drama Series and Best Comedy Series, respectively.

Both productions started out as favorites after having triumphed at the Golden Globes and even Abbott Elementary (Abbott College, in Spanish) also starred in the Critics Choice.

In addition to best drama series, HBO Max scored Jennifer Coolidge’s recognition as best drama actress.; something that could only be countered by its main competitor in the platform market, Netflix, with the victory of Jason Bateman (Ozark) in the male version of this genre.

For its part, Abbott Elementary did not win in the comedy acting categories. because the award for best female performer went to Jean Samart (HacksHBO Max) and best actor for Jeremmy Allen White (The Bear, Hulu).

Hispanic Jenna Ortega also was not chosen as best actress in a comedy series for her acclaimed role in the hit production Wednesdayfrom Netflix.

Finally, Sam Elliot won for best performer in a miniseries. for his role in 1883 (Paramount+) and Jessica Chastain did the same with the limited series George & Tammy.

The 29th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. will also be remembered as the first approach of one of the most important U.S. film awards to streaming platforms, as it the gala was broadcast in its entirety on Netflix’s YouTube channel.
