For the team of coach René Hake, who was previously at the helm of FC Emmen, Jay Idzes scored a goal in the early stages after the home team failed to clear the ball after a cross.
Error Diemers
Finn Stokkers could have made it even better for the Eagles before halftime after Mark Diemers handed in. However, Stokkers popped the ball into the hands of goalkeeper Mickey van der Hart from the edge of the box.
Emmen came alongside before the break, which was surprising given the poor attacking play. Not surprisingly, it took a penalty to equalize.
Fredrik Oppegaard fouled Ole Romeny, after which Jeroen Veldmate (ex-Eagles) scored the 1-1 from the spot. Diemers saw a curled shot miss the goal by a hair.
In the second half, Go Ahead Eagles seemed to win the game after all. After more than an hour of play, Bobby Adekanye cashed in on a low cross from Stokkers: 1-2.
Just before time, however, Romeny worked a Diemers cross behind goalkeeper Jeffrey de Lange, giving Emmen a point from the encounter after all.
