contract until summer of 2024

NOS Football–
Zakaria Labyad has signed a contract until the summer of 2024 with FC Utrecht, with an option for another year. The 29-year-old Moroccan international, whose contract with Ajax was not renewed last summer, thus returns to the club for which he previously played soccer for a year and a half.
The attacking midfielder, who suffered a serious knee injury less than a year ago, has been training with Utrecht in recent weeks and that has now resulted in a contract. Labyad worked the last part of his rehabilitation at FC Utrecht.
“It feels good and familiar. This is the right choice,” said Labyad, who he said is “almost match fit.
‘Happy to add’
“Zakaria was eager to return and we were eager to add him to our selection, so we quickly decided on that,” said technical director Jordy Zuidam.
The born Utrechter was also in the interest of foreign clubs, but chooses to return to De Galgenwaard.
Labyad made his breakthrough at PSV. He also played for Sporting Portugal, Vitesse, Fulham and Ajax, which acquired him from FC Utrecht in the summer of 2018. The Moroccan became a three-time champion with Ajax, although his contribution was quite limited.
