Tomb Raider, a TV series and movie reportedly in the works at Amazon

According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline, Amazon Would be working on a TV series and movie of the video game series Tomb Raider.
Starting with details about the TV series, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who is not expected to be in the cast of actors, would be in charge of the script. Waller-Bridge will also be an executive producer of the series along with Ryan Andolina and Amanda Greenblatt, who have a deal with Amazon with their production company. Dmitri M. Johnson will also serve as executive producer through his company dj2.
As for the film, Amazon would be collaborating again with Dmitri M. Johnson’s dj2 Entertainment for the production. Amazon’s idea would be to create a new Tomb Raider world, with the TV series, the movie, and the new game in development being interconnected.
A source familiar with the deal described it as one of Amazon’s biggest commitments since Lord of the Rings. For comparison, Amazon is estimated to have spent $250 million on Lord of the Rings rights alone, with the deal covering a multi-season series (The Rings of Power) and spinoffs.
As a reminder, dj2 Entertainment is also working on a two-season Tomb Raider animated series to be released on Netflix in the future.
