The Last of Us, ratings even higher with episode 4: recorded 7.5 million viewers

The success of the TV series of The Last of Us is truly mind-blowing: as reported by Variety, 7.5 million viewers watched the premiere of episode 4 on HBO and HBO Max. This is a 17 percent ratings growth over episode 3, which recorded 6.4 million viewers last week.
The audience growth for The Last of Us is not only impressive, but is even more remarkable when one considers that in the same time slot, on the Italian night between Sunday and Monday, the Grammy Awards were airing, which recorded ratings of 12.4 million viewers. Despite holding one of the most important music-related events of the year, a large number of people still chose to watch The Last of Us.
Variety points out that The Last of Us grows even more than House of the Dragon, a Game of Thrones spin-off that did really well. Although House of the Dragon recorded nearly 10 million viewers in its first episode and The Last of Us has not yet reached that milestone, it should be noted that the ratings number of The Game of Thrones series dropped significantly by the third episode before stabilizing for the rest of the episodes.
At this point we are waiting to see how episode 5 of The Last of Us, which will be released two days earlier than planned because of the Superbowl, will do: the most anticipated sporting event of the year in the United States will be held between Sunday and Monday, and it would obviously be counterproductive for HBO to air its flagship series at the same time.
