Secrets in a Small Town True Story? Nowhere 2019
The real story and the real Sarah Porter could be based on what happened in 2006 in Illinois. 17-year-old teen Ashley Reeves vanished from her Millstadt home after heading to a job interview. She was missing for more than 30 hours, and her family feared the worst. Her boyfriend told investigators she went to the interview and then to play basketball with a man she had been meeting in the park.
Investigators located Sam Shelton, a 27-year-old teacher who had some sort of relationship with Ashley. Many believe it was a romantic relationship. Sam Shelton had icy blue eyes and a charming spirit. He tried to choke Ashley to death with a belt then he dumped her body in Citizen’s park. He took detectives to the body in the cold, dark, rainy woods, and to everyone’s surprise, she was still alive. After several months, she recovered. He was arrested and charged with the crimes against her.
