Barbara Tommey, the 27-year-old wife of Ghanian pastor Sylvester Ofori, 35, was shot to death in Florida outside a credit union, where she was employed. Investigators say the fatal shooting took place at the Navy Federal Credit Union on Tuesday, September 8.
Barbara Tommey, an assistant manager, had been waiting outside until her place of employment opened. Surveillance video captured her as she looked up and saw Sylvester Ofori coming toward her before he blasted her several times. The entire murder was caught on videotape, leaving onlookers stunned.
It appeared she saw him and tried to hurry inside the credit union but didn’t make it in time. Sylvester Ofori was a big-time preacher and alleged prophet on Facebook, where he talked about staying away from people with bad energy and those who struggle with demons. Despite his vast knowledge, it appears he was the one who needed help. His more than 60,000 followers now believe he is indeed a false prophet, according to Click Orlando.
Barbara Tommey, a dark-skinned, curvaceous beauty, had everything to live for. It seemed she had a gorgeous life. But behind the scenes, she lived a life of domestic violence with someone who claimed to love her. Investigators say the couple was in the middle of a divorce.
In a Facebook post, Sylvester Ofori wrote the following message beside a picture of his wife.
“From the first time we met, I knew there was something very wonderful and unique about you, something that reached out and drew me to you completely. You’ve been a trusted friend, wise advisor, and a blessing from God. You’re the love of my life. Thank you for being everything that God knew I needed.”
Police say Sylvester Ofori and Barbara Tommey were still living together in an apartment as they finalized the divorce but were ultimately estranged. Ofori was found at his home and charged with first-degree murder. Check back for updates to this story.
