Jimmy McClain, aka Jimmy F. McClain was killed by stepson Dwayne Moore, and ID’s Home Sweet Homicide, chronicles the Cordova, Tennessee murder in the episode “In the Name of the Father.” The case was a real whodunit. Jimmy McClain, 49, was found slain in his suburban home in February of 2013. He was a beloved pastor and basketball coach at Ridgeway High School.

Prosecutors say, Dwayne Moore, 19, surprised Jimmy McClain and shot him to death just as he arrived home. The body was discovered in a pool of blood on his living room floor. After a lengthy investigation pinpointed Dwayne Moore as the killer, he was convicted and given a sentence of 22-years in prison. The crime TV show will be told from the perspective of police investigators, true crime writer Traciy Curry-Reyes, and Jimmy McClain’s family members.

Circumstances Surrounding the Murder of Jimmy McClain by Dwayne Moore (Court Records)

  • At () 9:50 a.m. on Friday, February 22, 2013, deputies from the Shelby County Sheriff‟s Department, who were conducting a welfare check on () Jimmy McClain, discovered his dead body lying on his living room floor surrounded by shell casings and bullet fragments.

  • The autopsy revealed that the victim had been shot seven times and had been dead for at least twenty-four hours.

  • All of the () doors and windows were locked, and there were no signs of a struggle.

  • Evidence uncovered by investigators [indicated] he defendant disliked the victim and was motivated to kill him to avenge his mother.
