Thirty-year-old Katrina Smith disappeared in October of 2012. Her body was found in Rock River weeks later. Winnebago County Sheriff’s investigators arrested her husband, a known charmer, for murder. The jealous husband stalked his wife and used a GPS device to spy on her. In the days leading up to the killing, she was desperate for a new phone, so she could hide her communications with her lover.
Detectives put the pieces of the puzzle together and arrested Todd Smith, charging him with first-degree murder. Relatives of Katrina Smith say they knew it was Todd Smith who killed her. According to True Crime Daily, Todd Smith had a scary past. He used to be Todd Raprager. He changed his name after he was convicted of arson at the age of 17. The teenager wanted to kill his family and tried to burn the house down. For the murder of his wife, Todd Smith received 59-years in prison.
