Deadly Legacy, Investigation Discovery’s new crime show re-investigates the case of John Wayne Gacy, the infamous serial killer responsible for the deaths of more than 30 men in Chicago in the 1970s. Killer clown John Wayne Gacy was caught in 1978 and executed in 1994. However, the case doesn’t end there. Gacy took the secret identities of eight victims to his grave. The limited series, which airs in three parts, pries open the decades-old file and hopes to confirm the identities of those victims. Cook County, Illinois cold case detective Sergeant Jason Moran believes new DNA technology will make that possible.
Henry Schleiff, Group President of Investigation Discovery, Travel Channel, American Heroes Channel, and Destination American made the following statement about ID’s Deadly Legacy.
“John Wayne Gacy is one of America’s most notorious serial killers and while his name lives on, we often forget about the victims he left behind. Indeed, it’s even more jarring to realize that there are still eight unnamed victims. Through the dogged determination and inspiring intrepidness of Detective Sergeant Moran, Investigation Discovery will deliver answers to multiple families in this intense, riveting, and long overdue investigation.”
Investigation Discovery viewers will watch Detective Jason Moran as he investigates the missing person cases through interviews with the original detectives and the victims’ relatives. He’ll also sift through crime evidence and the many tips he receives.
Deadly Legacy is produced by Raw TV Limited. Crispin Reece directs, and Mark Lewis is the executive producer. Simon Mills is the supervising producer, and Olive King is listed as the story producer. For the ID Channel, Tim Baney is executive producer, Sara Kozak is senior vice president of production, and Kevin Bennett is general manager, according to Investigation Discovery’s press release.
