Kamiyah Mobley (Alexis Manigo) will appear on the explosive new season premiere of Iyanla: Fix My Life this weekend. Kamiyah Mobley was abducted by Gloria Williams from a Florida hospital almost two decades ago. The truth was exposed after Alexis applied for a job. It has been tough for the young lady who goes by the name Alexis Manigo. The 19-year-old teen loves kidnapper Gloria Williams and considers the woman her mother. Iyanla’s Fix My Life episode goes deep. In a fiery video circulating on Facebook, Iyanla tries to reason with Kamiyah Mobley (Alexis Manigo), but it all goes downhill fast.
True Crime: Some Background on the Kamiyah Mobley (Alexis Manigo) Case
Alexis Manigo was raised by Gloria Williams, 52, and believed all her life that Williams was her mother. Gloria’s secret was exposed after Kamiyah Mobley (Alexis Manigo) tried to get a driver’s license and a job in Walterboro, South Carolina.
Alexis solved her own kidnapping and even called her biological mother out of curiosity. She disconnected the call when Shanara Mobley, now 36, answered the line. Kamiyah Mobley had no desire to leave Gloria Williams to live with her real mother, and she didn’t want to cause problems for the kidnapper “mom” by exposing the truth. Still, the case was flagged, and DNA proved Alexis Manigo was Kamiyah Mobley, an infant who was stolen from a Jacksonville, Florida, hospital in 1998 when she was just eight-hours old.
Police say Gloria Williams was desperate to have a child and had actually lost a pregnancy. In despair, she devised a plan to befriend a gullible young mother and snatch a baby. On July 10, 1998, Gloria Williams walked into Shanara Mobley’s hospital room and said she needed to remove the baby to treat her fever. The biological grandmother and Kamiyah Mobley’s natural parents didn’t see their child again until the case was solved.
Sadly, there is no happy ending. As you’ll see on Iyanla: Fix My Life, Gloria Williams, who pleaded guilty, was put in jail and now faces over 20-years in prison for the abduction. Alexis Manigo begged the judge to show mercy and kindness regarding sentencing. An emotional video shows Gloria Williams and Alexis Manigo (Kamiyah Mobley) in a tight embrace.
Kamiyah and her biological mother, Shanara, no longer speak to each other. According to the Daily Mail, Shanara Mobley is hurt that her daughter wants and loves the kidnapper more than she loves her. Kamiyah has had a better relationship with her biological father, Craig Aiken, now 42.
In an interview with CNN, Alexis Manigo (Kamiyah Mobley) said she was a “big girl,” who could process it all. However, judging by the Iyanla Fix My Life video, in which the young lady lashes out in anger, she is hurting and not coping well.
Gloria Williams’ double life could be a Lifetime true-story movie. Williams was described as a nice church-going woman who loved and cared for her daughter and taught her how to do the right things in life.
Gloria also worked with the youth at the church and with Habitat for Humanity. But behind the smiling Facebook photos, police say Gloria Williams has a criminal record, which includes check and welfare fraud. Kamiyah Mobley’s story is similar to the story of Carlina White. Her case was made into the Lifetime movie called Abducted: The Carlina White Story, which aired in 2012.
