Natise Johnson and Kareem Sampson’s Philadelphia murder case airs on the television crime series Homicide City, according to the Investigation Discovery schedule for tonight.
Natise Johnson, a twenty-one-year-old black pregnant female, was gunned down in the spring of 1999. Today, Kareem Sampson, who was just twenty-years-old at the time of the murder, still sits in prison serving a life sentence for her death.

On Homicide City, anticipate hearing from the detective who solved the case, Det. Howard Peterman, and Natise Johnson’s sister, Crystal Honesty, and Natise’s brother-in-law, Malik Honesty. The episode title for the compelling documentary is “Nine Months Murdered.”
After 7 p.m., Natise Johnson’s father arrived home in Philadelphia and found his daughter’s body in a pool of blood on the kitchen floor in the Overbrook neighborhood. She appeared to be deceased. He placed a call to his other daughter, Crystal, to come to the home. When Crystal arrived, she also saw Natise’s body on the floor.
Not knowing what happened, they believed Natise Johnson had gone into labor, but there was too much blood at the scene. Paramedics arrived and rushed the woman, who was nine months pregnant, to the local hospital. The family was told Natise Johnson was murdered. The autopsy showed she was shot around three to four times in the head. The baby, medical examiners say, died a slow death after Natise expired.

There seems to be a discrepancy in the court record online and the documentary. ID’s Homicide City TV show states Crystal Honesty is the victim’s sister. However, the online report says Kareem Sampson arrived at 5428 Lansdowne Avenue to talk about Natise’s brother, who was dating his ex-girlfriend, Crystal Mack. It’s possible the case involves two different women named Crystal. Tonight’s TV show should shed some light on this. The record states Crystal Mack and Kareem Sampson were engaged to be married and had a child together. Kareem became distraught after she moved out of the place they shared and began dating someone new. *Update: The woman depicted as Angela in the show is really Crystal Mack, a friend of Natise Johnson.
On the show, Malik and Crystal Honesty talk about how happy Natise Johnson’s father was to have his pregnant daughter living with him again. Her death took a toll on the entire family as everyone struggled to understand who would commit such a crime, especially against a woman who was expecting a child in just a few hours. Kareem Sampson was convicted for the deaths of Natise Johnson and her baby girl. He was sentenced to two life sentences. The Natise Johnson story did not make many national headlines in 1999. It was around this time many believed there was no real interest in black pregnant women who were being murdered.
The tragic story of Natise Johnson and Kareem Sampson airs on Homicide City tonight at 10/9 p.m. Central. Crystal Taylor, another African American pregnant woman, was murdered by a man the baby’s father hired. Reyna Marroquin was a pregnant Latina, who was killed by her married lover in the 1960s. Her case went cold until it was solved in 1999, the same year Natise Johnson was killed.
