On Facebook, Kenneth and Whittney Tankson often exchanged loving posts and comments to each other. What seemed like a happy family unit was destroyed by news of his death.
Classmates who attended New Bern High School with Kenneth Tankson are shocked and saddened by the murder. Some social media conversations suggest that Kenneth Antoine Tankson had been in a halfway house and had recently returned home. One acquaintance stated the following on Facebook.
“I mean what is wrong with people have people lost it. Just no respect for human life it’s like we don’t even respect each other. It just makes you not even want to be around people because you never know when they’re going to go off the deep end when I last saw Kenneth Tankson I was walking my dog when I Heard a Voice running behind me saying I only know one person that walks like that when I turned around it was Kenneth I was so happy to see him nothing like seeing a person from home we talked he was on his way back to the halfway house I made sure he was okay that was the last time I saw or talk with him may you rest in peace my brother.”
Records show that Whittney Tankson and her husband, Kenneth Antoine Tankson, lost an infant daughter, who died earlier this year in February 2017. The infant lived with them at 1124 Church St and was named Kennedi Noelle Tankson.
Friends say the loss of Whittney Tankson’s baby took a toll on her and that she had also put up with domestic abuse from Kenneth Tankson for quite some time, although that has not been confirmed at this time. However, Kenneth Tankson’s friends want justice and say that he was a good man who didn’t deserve what happened to him.
