Cuba Gooding Sr. Dead: Soul Singer Found Dead Inside Car At The Age of 72


Cuba Gooding Sr. was found dead inside of his car in Woodland Hills, California, according to LA Times. Gooding Sr. was a popular soul singer and father to Oscar award winning actors.  Officers on the scene stated that the late singer was found slumped over in his silver Jaguar, Thursday afternoon. The fire department showed up at 12:58 p.m. to try and revive Gooding by performing CPR, but were unsuccessful, according to TMZ.  Law enforcement suspects that an overdose occurred.

LAPD stated that since there were no signs of foul play, the singer would be turned over to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office to decide the cause of death.

Cuba Gooding Sr. was the lead singer of the soul group  “The Main Ingredient.”  The  70’s band had a successful hit song in 1972 called “Everybody Plays the Fool.”

Gooding Sr. and his wife Shirley had a total of 4 kids together — April Gooding, Tommy Gooding, Omar Gooding, and Cuba Gooding Jr.

Cuba Gooding Sr. was 72 at the time of his death.
